How do I install or hang my statement shelves?Updated 2 years ago

  1. Standard Phillips Head Screw Driver or Drill
  2. Level or Measuring Tape
  3. Pencil
  4. Masking tape (optional)

Instructions

  1. Once you choose a location for your new statement shelves, you can either use a measuring tape or a level to mark the location for your bottom shelf.  If you're using a measuring tape, simply measure up an equal distance from the floor and mark a small horizontal line where the bottom of each end of the first shelf will go.  We recommend using a pencil & masking tape so you don't have to mark directly on the wall.
  2. After you've marked the lines for your first shelf, hold the shelf up to the line and push the provided screws (using a screwdriver) into the holes in the shelf.  Use enough force to make small indentions in the wall - marking where you will install the drywall anchors.  If a screw happens to land on a stud, a drywall anchor will not be needed for that hole.
  3. After marking the holes, remove the masking tape, install the drywall anchors, and fix the first shelf to the wall using the supplied screws.
  4. When using 6" acrylic letters, we recommend spacing the shelves 8-9" apart.  For 4" letters, we recommend a 6-7" spacing.  For 2" letters, we recommend 3-5" spacing.  Before hanging additional shelves, we recommend setting letters on the shelf to determine the shelf spacing you prefer.
  5. To hang your next shelf, measure up from each end of the first shelf and mark your lines just like before.  Once you have marked the line for your next shelf, repeat steps 2 & 3.

Note, the little wood plugs included are for filling the holes after the shelves are hung.  They are designed to stick out a little bit. This way you can easily pull out the plugs and remove the screws if you ever decide to uninstall your shelves.
